Welcome to your Equality & Diversity course. We’re glad to have you with us as we take a meaningful step toward building a more inclusive workplace and clinical environment. This course is designed to deepen your understanding of EDI and how these principles directly influence the success of our organization. By participating, you are demonstrating a clear commitment to fairness – both in how we support our colleagues and how we deliver care to our service users.
Course Modules:
- The Foundations of EDI: Explore the primary aims of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and understand how a commitment to these values impacts both service delivery and successful organisational functioning.

- Behaviour Contract: Understand the framework of a contingency contract as a roadmap for transparency and predictability, covering the four pillars of target behaviours, rewards, penalties, and review dates.
- The Case for Equality & Diversity: Master the clinical, social, and legal arguments for EDI, including how diversity fosters innovation in healthcare and ensures compliance with statutory duties.
- Prejudice and Discrimination: Develop awareness of how unique life experiences condition our perceptions and explore how identifying unconscious bias allows for conscious, proactive choices to prevent discrimination.
- Barriers and Beyond: Identify the multi-layered hurdles that prevent equitable access, including institutional and physical barriers, cultural and religious misconceptions, and the impact of historical distrust.
- The Equality Act 2010: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the primary legislation protecting individuals in society and the nine specific protected characteristics covered under the Act.
- The Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED): Learn the statutory requirements for public bodies to eliminate discrimination and advance opportunity through specific duties, including Equality Impact Assessments and measurable objectives.
